The Golden Retriever’s remarkable journey began in the Scottish Highlands under the visionary breeding program of Dudley Marjoribanks, the first Lord Tweedmouth, during Queen Victoria’s reign. Between 1840-1890 at his Guisachan estate, Tweedmouth meticulously crossed his ‘Yellow Retrievers’ with the now-extinct Tweed Water Spaniel, later enhancing the lineage with Irish Setter and Bloodhound bloodlines, creating the perfect gundog for Scotland’s rugged terrain and rainy climate. This aristocratic passion project resulted in what one historian called ‘a consistent line of exceptional working retrievers’ – the foundation of today’s beloved breed. First showcased in Britain in 1908, Golden Retrievers quickly crossed to America where they captured hearts as both skilled hunting companions and stunning show dogs, their sweet temperament making them instant favorites. The breed’s popularity soared to new heights in the 1970s when President Gerald Ford’s Golden, Liberty, became a White House celebrity. Hello! I’m Thomas Parker, and together with my wife and family, we’re the proud owners of Elite Golden Retrievers. Our journey with these magnificent dogs began in my childhood when a golden retriever named Prince became my constant companion and best friend. His unconditional love during my formative years showed me the incredible bond between humans and Goldens – a lesson that stayed with me through college, where I met my wife (who fell equally in love with Prince!), and into our married life today.

What began as childhood affection has grown into a lifelong passion. After losing Prince, we realized our calling wasn’t just to own Golden Retrievers, but to preserve and share their extraordinary qualities with other families. Now on our 3-acre property, we carefully breed and raise Golden Retrievers that embody everything we loved about Prince – their intelligence, emotional sensitivity, and joyful companionship.
